WELCOME TO THE THREE VALLEY'S SITE
The three valleys are situated within the boundaries of Poitou, Berry and Touraine.
Three valleys crossed by three rivers : the Anglin, the Gartempe and the Creuse. They all take their source in the Limousin region and their water stretches and occasionally jostles towards the North-West to amplify the waters of the Vienne before joining the Loire at Chinon.
They cross and irrigate historic sites and even prehistoric sites such as l'Anglin at Angles-sur-l'Anglin, the Gartempe at Bussière, St Pierre de Maillé up to nearly La Roche Posay (La Merci Dieu) to rejoin the Creuse and to follow its course towards Lesigny-sur-Creuse, Mairé and Chambon, Barrou on the right bank in Indre-et-Loire.
Artificially separated into different Departments by the Napoleonic Administration, then into Regions by the 5th Republic, these Three Valleys are significant as regards the local archaeology, history and heritage.
They discreetely offer their charms to tourists, to amateurs of green leisure activities and to curists with the thermal waters of La Roche Posay.
Valleys charged with alliances, pacts and conflicts between Earls and Barons in feudal times, then between the English and the French, then between the Catholics and the Reformists, without forgetting the 1940 demarcation line of the Second World War.
The local history is noted for its several local saints : Savin and Cyprien at La Merci-Dieu, André-Hubert Fournet et Jeanne-Elisabeth Bichier at St Pierre-de-Maillé, and also Louis Maigret, second bishop of Hawaï, Pierre Coudrin of Coussay-les-Bois, founder of the Picpus Community...
One also ought to note the Chastaignier de La Roche Posay family, Scaliger, the brilliant humanist and so many others !...
The Parish Council area cannot be eaten up as one devours kilometres...You have guessed correctly... It has to be savoured and appreciated.
Many have come, have tested and have established themselves here ....
As you surf the pages of this site, take your time to test and to appreciate...
Beware ! If you are in a hurry, take your car and see nothing !
Here everything is taken imperceptibly in small doses.
That is the real way to appreciate the Region !
